Seeking a more objective(ish) measure of how good a job Humanity is really doing, A bunch of Malaysians strewn across the planet have come together to form the Faith in Humanity Meter.
It goes like this: Any of us that post can Raise or Lower the meter by 1, based on our experiences that day. We start True Neutral, at 50, wherein 100 is the maximum and 0 means we commit ritual Sepukku.
eg: My dentist was nice to me, +1. The guy who was being helpful turns out he just wants to get in my pants, -1. Etc etc etc.
So: Bring the lights down low, draw the curtains, and take it away Gentlepeople!
